The best months to visit Vietnam are generally October to April, during the dry season, offering cooler, pleasant weather for the North (Hanoi, Ha Long Bay) and sunny days for the South (Ho Chi Minh, Mekong Delta). However, the ideal time varies by region: North (Oct-Apr) is cool & dry, Central (Feb-Apr) is best for beaches (Hoi an, Hue), and South (Dec-Apr) is dry & sunny, but consider the shoulder months like March/April for spring blooms and festivals, or May to avoid peak crowds while still enjoying warmth.
For a good taste of Vietnam, 10-14 days is ideal to see highlights like Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hoi An, and Ho Chi Minh City, while 7 days works for focusing on just the North or South; however, exploring the entire country or delving deeper requires 3-4 weeks or more, as Vietnam offers rich culture and diverse landscapes.
